  • 400 grams or 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 7 grams or 1/4 oz. dry instant yeast

  • 7 grams or 1/4 oz. sugar

  • 300 ml or 1 1/4 cup water

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

How to

Preparation

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour with dried yeast and sugar.
  2. Mix on low speed while gradually adding lukewarm water and the salt.
  3. Continue mixing until a dough forms. It should be slightly sticky.
  4. Transfer the dough onto a floured work surface.
  5. Shape the dough into a smooth round ball.
  6. Drizzle some olive oil into a clean mixing bowl and place the dough inside.
  7. Turn the dough to coat it with olive oil.
  8. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise for at least 90 minutes in a warm place.

Baking

  1. While the chicken is resting, heat your barbecue with a pizza stone to 350°C or 660°F.
  2. Divide the risen dough into 8 equal pieces.
  3. Place one of the pitas on the hot pizza stone.
  4. Bake the pitas for a few minutes on each side until they are lightly golden brown and puffed up.
  5. Keep an eye on them as they may puff up.
  6. Once baked, remove the pitas from the barbecue and let them cool slightly.

Fill each pita bread with something delicious, such as chicken gyros, and top it off with tzatziki sauce
