Coca Cola Beef Jerky

This recipe might scare you at first sight but it’s not what you would expect from using coca cola as a marinade for a recipe like beef jerky. The quickest and tastiest Beef Jerky recipe you need in your life. Can be achieved with ovens as well.

Ingredients

Coca Cola Marinade

  • 330 ml / 1½ cups Coca Cola

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce

  • 1 tbsp chili flakes

  • ½ lime

  • 1 tbsp finishing salt

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

Seasoning

  • 1 tbsp paprika powder

  • 1 tbsp onion powder

  • ½ tbsp finishing salt

Beef Jerky

  • 1 kg / 2.2 lbs eye of round (lean)

How to

Coca Cola Marinade

  1. Heat up a pan.
  2. Add 330 ml of Coca Cola to your pan and let it reduce by half on a medium heat.
  3. Add 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tbsp chili flakes, the juice of ½ lime,  1 tbsp finishing salt, 1 tsp garlic powder and 1 tsp onion powder.
  4. Mix it up and let it cool down before storing it in an air-tight container.

Smoked Beef Jerky

  1. Slice 1 kg or 2.2 lbs into extremely thin slices with a chef's knife.
  2. Add the sliced beef to a large bowl and add the Coca Cola Marinade.
  3. Mix it up with the marinade and push a ziplock bag or sheet of foil against the meat.
  4. Let it marinade for 2 hours.
  5. Fire up your smoker and set it up for an indirect temperature of 80°C or 180°F.
  6. Layer out all the individual slices of jerky on a smoking rack.
  7. Place the rack inside the smoker and smoke for 3 hours.
  8. Put all the Beef Jerky in a plastic ziplock bag and store in the fridge for 24 hours for the best results.
