The Irish Breakfast Burger

irish breakfast burger

Recently I traveled across Ireland and I discovered all sorts of Irish dishes but what stood out most of the time was the breakfast. O man do they love breakfast and they nailed it everytime. When you eat a full blown irish breakfast you can almost skip dinner as well. But what would be something to make this Irish breakfast better? An Irish breakfast burger!
This Irish Breakfast Burger has everything you expect from a proper Irish breakfast. It’s the best start of the day you can have and it’s all from the BBQ.

Ingredients

  • 300 grams pork sausages
  • 2 slices English bacon thick 0,5 cm slices
  • 1 tomato
  • 50 grams black pudding crumbled
  • 200 grams Heinz Beanz
  • 150 grams mushrooms pre-sliced because i am lazy
  • 1 tbsp HP sauce
  • 2 sesame burger buns
  • tbsp butter

Instructions

Preperations

  • The first thing that you want to do in this recipe and actually every burger recipe is prepair everything that can be prepaired because once those burgers are flipped you want to be ready for the grand finale.
  • Grab around 3 pork sausages ( that should be around 300 grams of meat) and slice it open with your chef's knife. Turn the sausage inside out and shape the meat into 2 seperate burger patty's on a sheet of baking paper so it doesn't stick to the board.
  • Slice of 2 thick slices of english bacon. Ofcourse you can use pre-sliced english bacon but for an Irish Breakfast Burger i tend to go bigger then ussual so I'm using an uncut piece of english bacon for my thicker slices.
  • Slice a tomato in thick slices. I want to use 3 slices per burger but if you cant get it out of one tomato do another one.
  • Slice of around 4 slices of Black pudding. This stuff is what we call in the Netherlands ''Bloedworst'' which means blood sausage. But please don't let that name scare you because its delicious and the burger would not be as great without it.
  • Crumble down the slices of black pudding.
  • Slice the burger buns in half.
  • Slice the mushrooms into thin slices.

Getting started

  • Fire up the napoleon sideburner and heat up your cast iron skillet as much as you canfor the next step.
  • Add a fatty piece of that english bacon to the pan to season it. ( if you don't have any use oil )
  • Put in the slices of tomato and let them sear.
  • Flip the tomato when the crust is blackened and let them sear on the other side.
  • Take out the tomato, scrape off the excess tomato and season it with bacon fat or oil again.
  • Add 1½ tbsp of butter and fry the mushrooms in the butter until golden brown.
  • Use the leftover butter to fry the black pudding in until it's crispy.

Burger finale

  • Turn on the 3 burners on the left side of the Napoleon.
  • Season the grill grate with some olive oil.
  • Give your burger buns a quick sear.
  • Grill the slices of english bacon.
  • When the grill grates are empty again after the buns and bacon it's time to grill the patties. The fat is going to drip down onto the flavourizerbars and let smoke twirl up against the pattie giving it more flavor.
  • You need to grill these over a grill grate like this because if you use a plate the fat can't go anywhere.
  • Meanwhile warm up your beans in the cast iron skillet on the side.
  • Take of the patty's and the beans.

Build up your Irish Breakfast Burger

  • Start with the bun and fill it with beans.
  • Add a slice of bacon.
  • Add the burger patty
  • Couple of slices of tomato
  • Add some mushrooms
  • Add crumbled and fried black pudding
  • Add a tiny drip of HP Sauce on top. Please not to much otherwise you will not taste that amazing burger anymore.
  • Now eat it while listening to riverdance music ( optional ).
