Inception Steak Rub

inception steak rub

Imagine a rub that you could put on something and give it grilled steak flavor. That would be the perfect utopian society for me to be honest. But since I have no intention to make this world a better place on a political scale, I'm here to give you that steak rub.
If you put this rub on your food it will taste like grilled steak. Enough said.

Ingredients

  • 1 Rib-eye steak
  • 2 tbsp fleur de sel

Instructions

  • Take your chef's knife and slice your rib eye in half with the butterfly technique. This way you end up with 2 thinner cuts of the same size.
  • Score the steak in both direction on both sides so you get 2 scruffed steaks with an huge amount of flavor. it's around 400% more surface
  • Fire up the kamado joe and set the grill grate to the lowest position with direct heat.
  • Grill your steak untill you have the most amount of crust you can get. You archieve this by rotating the steak as much as you can. it does not matter what your core temperature is.
  • Let the steak rest and slice it in thin slices.
  • Put it on a cooling rack and stick it in your food dryer. Now you can buy one for less then 150 euro's but you could also try this in your oven but your lowest temperature setting MUST be 65 degrees celcius. Otherwise this will not work.
  • Close the dryer and leave it for 24 hours.
  • The next day you can crumble your steak by hand. But we are going to grind it in a blender. You can use a mortar and pestle too ofcourse.
  • Put 2 tbsp of this stuff in a jar and add 2 tbsp of fleur de sel seasalt to the dried steak powder. The salt will make this rub lkast forever.
  • Mix it up and your steak rub is ready.
