I made a 120-year-old burger recipe

This is supposed to be the first hamburger recipe ever created. At least it’s the easiest and fastest burger recipe I’ve ever made.

120 years ago somebody at Louis Lunch Diner requested a quick lunch to go. Louis made the most basic burger that’s so simple it’s art.

  • White sliced bread
  • Minced beef
  • White onion
  • Tomato
  • Salt

How to

  1. Fire up your grill.
  2. Slice the onion and tomato and roast the bread till golden brown
  3. Make a ball with 150 grams of minced beef and press it down to make a burger pattie
  4. Place the sliced onion on the pattie and grill it in a hamburger grill basket on both sides.
  5. Place the grilled pattie on the toasted bread, sprinkle on some salt, put on a slice of tomato and finish with the next slice of bread.
